Term 2, Week 6 books: Art, Artists and Illustrators

Do you love drawing?

Do you appreciate funky art?

Week 6 in the library is for you!

We have a selection of “How to…” drawing books…

Drawing Fashion
How to Cartoon: Under the Sea (by NZ author / illustrator Stu Duval… remember Rat Island?)
How to Cartoon: Outa Space (also a Stu Duval masterpiece!)
Cool Cars
Big Trucks
Planes
Mecha Robots

We are also featuring the amazing Hundertwasser For Kids.

This is a stunning book, which tells you about the amazing life of the inspirational Friedenseich Hundertwasser from his birth in Vienna, Austria in 1928, right through to his death on a boat en route to Europe from New Zealand in 2000.  His art works and architecture really make you think about what is ‘normal’.

Kei Te Pehea Koe? How Do You Feel?  by Tracy Duncan is a beautiful book about feelings.  Tracy is a New Zealand author / illustrator and her beautiful illustrations are very distinctive. Miss McLachlan is a fan!

Also illustrated by Tracy Duncan is Ophelia Wild, Secret Spy (by Elena de Roo.)  Ophelia and her assistant Albert are spies who run their business from their tree house.  They are available to solve all the toughest cases!

Also this week you will find a variety of books which are illustrated using different artistic techniques…

Can you find a featured book which uses:
Collage?
Woodcut?
Printing?
Painting?

And if you like those magic eye books… there is one of those there for you too!
