Week 5 - Countries of the World

I love looking at atlases and books about countries and maps.

This week in the Library is all about countries of the world, which fits in nicely with the Olympics which has just been and gone (and, WOW what a great two weeks of sport!) and also with the upcoming International Languages Week in Week 6.

We have a myriad of books about different countries, ranging from Ireland to Brazil to Egypt to Pakistan to Canada.

We also have a series of fabulous mapping books, which look at different kinds of maps and how they are made and used.

Country MapsLand and Sea MapsWorld Maps

And, of course, we have a couple of gorgeous children's atlases, which include flags and plenty of information about every country in the world.  So... if you were fascinated by the Mongolian wrestling team in the Olympics, you can find out where Mongolia is; or if you want to find out where Usain Bolt and his speedy friends are from, you can check out Jamaica and see where it is on the globe!  I for one will be checking out Uzbekistan...
